Hotels in Miami, as well as great Shopping areas?

I’m planning on going to Miami for vacation around the winter time (December) this year. I’ve never been there before. Can anyone please suggest any good shopping places for me to go (outlets, big malls, etc) or any must see places? Something other than nice beaches? Thanks so much!

I would also like to know any good hotels we could stay at. Nothing expensive but something in comparison to Howard Johnson and Quality Inn price/standard. Many thanks.

    I just came home from Miami yesterday. I like the Bayside mall, its a large outdoor shopping center w/ a few restaraunts too. The Hard Rock Cafe was great & I have also been to Bunna Gump down there & it was good food & a fun time. I’m not sure about hotels I went to the FontaineBlue on Miami beach but it seems like you want something a bit smaller. Did u try hotels.com?

    I can recommend you the Kent Hotel wich is great and the location better
    also you can search The Colony wich is smaller but in a great place. Both of them are on Ocean´s Drive street
    To shop you should go to Sawgrassmills and to Bayside, Aventura Mall and Dolphins Mall.

    I just came back from South Beach yesterday, and was the best vacation I’ve EVER had!!! The only problem I had was staying at The Best Western South Beach. It was WORST place ever!!!! My friend’s money was stolen from her luggage and management was just plain rude. We had to contact the police, but of course nothing was done! AND top of it all we had an unwanted visitor in our bathroom Tuesday morning…Mr.Cockroach!!!!! It was so huge!!! Later in afternoon we were talking to Lady in the lobby and she was telling us that she also had money missing from her room! Miami is an awesome place to go, but I strongly suggest NEVER to stay at The Best Western South Beach!

    The Dolphin Mall is a very nice mall , you do get a crowd there though. Plus if you’re going down to Miami alone you need to be very careful where you go down there.
