We are to write a research paper that is 4-pages, double spaced. That is not too hard. I just need something to write about - that is my problem. Here are the requirements so you can get an idea. Basically, we can write about any topic that has to do with networking. We are to describe our selected topic, making sure it isn’t too broad a topic. We can tell why we are interested in it, give comparisons of competing devices, prices, future expectations, etc. Problems and limitations should be covered (nothing is perfect).

There are so many things to pick from to write about, I just need some help in finding what would be a good topic to write about.

   Here are some random thoughts.

   1. Cross platforms. Should a company consider cross platform issues before purchasing servers and other hardware?

   2. Upward expandability. Is there a minimum network that companies should consider when investing in new equipment?

   3. WiFi vs hardwiring

   4. Operating systems for networks. Ease of use vs speed vs capacity vs expense vs features

   5. High volume graphics and business applications. Do networks support them both? Are there special considerations?

   6. Migrating from older systems? What are the considerations and what is involved?

   7. Setting up shop in the real world. What is the most needed servicesin the networking business? What is the easiest to penetrate? How do you market yourself?
