I keep tabs on the economy and I am aware of the current climate here in the UK regarding house prices. I realise it is a fools time to buy for most people. I am willing to put money where my mouth is and take a risk for the right deal but need financial backing.

With the ever shrinking available loans available, are there any up to date price comparison websites or up to date advice for a 95%-100% mortgage at 3-3.5x income?

An easy 10 pts and our thanks for someone who can point us in the right direction:)

I would like to get sale prices for a pieces of property in my neighborhood in order to do comparisons. The property to be compared to is not a home but a parking space. Is there a place, other than a realtor, to look up comparable property that sold in my area? I was hoping that there was a government department that kept that info in its records, e.g., the county. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I’m looking to get rough rent/value ratios for various areas of the country.

I have found websites that display “average home price” and “average rent”, but that isn’t fair because most rentals are lower-end than purchases. I’m looking for an apples-to-apples comparison.

Please don’t include properties which you purchased significantly below market or invested a lot of money in improving.

P.S. I know I’ve asked this before, but judging from the responses, I asked it the wrong way.

I know that it’s an odd market. I live in the far NW chicago suburbs. I’ve had my house for sale for about 2 weeks. We have had a total of 4 showings. We are relocating and need to sell it for the move. The house is 6 years old. We are in a nice neighborhood. Many comparable homes in our neighborhood are on the market for $30,000 more than we are asking for ours…including our next door neighbor. We had an open house and only one person came to see it and that was a nosey neighbor. What can we or our real estate agent do to drive more people to our home? It’s listed in the MLS. We had an open house. I feel we have priced it to sell in comparison to other homes on the market. We want fair market value…we don’t want to undersell it. I’m not dissapointed that it hasn’t sold yet. I am dissapointed that we haven’t had more visitors. My agent also had a realtor walk through and had 14 realtors come through. No negative feedback from the people that have walked through.

In my country the average house/flat costs $100,000, while the average salary is $520. (0,004% of the real estate price)

In the United States the average price is $755,000, while the salary is $3,065. (0,004%).

Are prices the same more or less (in comparison with the salary)?

The county appraisal and the sale price are significantly different. I don’t have a basis of comparison b/c other homes in that neighborhood have not been up for sale lately. I want to present an offer, but I don’t know what I should do?
P.s. I didn’t want to get a real estate agent involved….I’ve already found the house I want.
