I have a few questions about the specifics for comparison.

1. For telecommunication, what is the price comparison for say 5 km? Also, what is an estimated cost for installing fiber optics in a city with say 1 million people?

2. How many telephone conversations can be transmitted through a single fiber? How does this compare with copper wire?

3. How often would copper wire need an amplifier to strengthen the signal for long distance transmission?

For the first question, any comparison in price really is fine.
This is for a physics project, and I have to teach my class about fiber optics. I wanted to try to get some numerical information that they could compare with.

Oil
Gas
Nuclear
Hydro
Wind
Solar

Take into account subsidies, capacity factor, etc. so that it’s a fair comparison.
Total price is no good if you don’t know the typical usable power output.
This is about the cost required to produce a kW-hr of electrical energy from each different type of power plant, and nothing more. Solar is 5 times as expensive as wind, for instance. Please provide references.
