So im looking into buying an old fox body mustang (1990-1993) and Im trying to weigh the price comparison between some that i have seen with lower mileage and those ive seen with a rebuilt engine and/or ******. basically for $10-12,000 I’ve seen cars with under 25K miles. on the flip side ive seen cars with over 100K miles that have rebuilt engines and trannys selling for half that. around $5-6000.

so obviously the condition of the rest of the car on the high mileage ones would come into play but im still trying to figure in my mind if the money for the barely driven like new car is worth the extra over the high mileage ones that are all rebuilt.

lookin for some opinions here. thanks.

I’m looking for new cars right now, as my 1996 Toyota Camry seems like it might die pretty soon (at 160k). I know that it would be smart to stick with Toyota, as this one has run well for 13 years now with almost no maintenance, but I really really want a beetle. I don’t want to feel stupid for essentially choosing cuteness over performance, so I’m trying to validate it by finding a really good deal. My question is:

2004 Camry or 2004 Volkswagen Beetle, both have 40k, both have one owner, everything is the same. How much lower would the Beetle have to be for you to not feel like an idiot for picking it?
